Japanese short sword of intermediate size between a traditional tanto and wakizashi. The overall construction differs from traditional Japanese-made swords and appears consistent with manufacture in China during the period of Japanese occupation during the Second World War.
The sword features a single-edged blade with a pronounced angular point. Mounted with a wooden grip secured by small pins and fitted with a hammered copper fuchi. Guard displays a border of stars. In wood scabbard with leather cover and hammered copper throat fitting.
Dimensions: 21.5" long overall, 13.25" blade.

Blade exhibits an even dark gray patina with scattered oxidation and surface wear throughout. Edge shows wear and minor irregularities consistent with age and use. Metal fittings display oxidation, verdigris, surface scratching, and general age-related wear. Decorative details remain visible but softened in places. Wooden grip and scabbard shows handling wear, small dents, scratches, and leather shrinkage associated with age.
