Charles Farren (1857 Illinois- 1927 Sacramento) Oil on Canvas Portrait Painting of a Dog, likely a Whippet or Greyhound. Signed lower right ''C. Farren, '05''

Farren lived in Elk Grove/Sacramento at the turn of the century and is buried locally in the Elk Grove/Consumnes cemetery. Farren has limited auction records for his paintings, and is most well known as having been a late 19th/early 20th century local sign maker for Sacramento area businesses. 

Dimensions: 31 5/8" x 26 1/2" framed. 23 1/2" x 18 1/2" sight.

This lot may be picked up free of charge from our facilities in Sacramento, CA. Processing and shipping within the Continental US $140. All FedEx packages are sent with Direct Signature Required and insured at full replacement value for a fee of 1.5% of the purchase price, unless buyer accepts complete liability in writing. Discounts given on combined lot shipping. 

Condition

Restorer Tom French cleaned and touched up the painting, also recommending to consignor to have it professionally re-stretched, but painting has not yet been re-stretched by the consignor. 

Restoration and infill visible across painting when examined under UV light. Restoration comprises approximately 30% of painting. Aside: The artists signature and '05' date are original and not affected by infill nor restoration
