A very large and quite heavy bronze titled "The Wine Merchant" by Emile Louis Picault (1833-1915) a well known French sculptor and painter. The statue is of a Renaissance merchant wearing an apron and cap, with a wine bottle tucked into his apron's pocket, and a basket at his feet with bottles of wine spilling out of it. He has a bunch of keys at his waist. His hand is raised, and is missing a bronze wine goblet. It is signed on the base: E. Picault.
Size: 26 1/2 inches tall and 9 inches at the base.
Condition
Other than the missing wine glass, the statue is excellent plus.
