Exceptional bronze sculpture of scene of a young Dionysus, god of wine and madness, lifting a cup to the sky, with a ram rearing over him. The sculpture is extremely finely done, and very detailed. It is signed on the back by Clodion, a French sculptor who lived from 1738 to 1814, and is known as the best exemplar of French rococo style. The sculpture is mounted on a heavy gray marble base.
