Excellent Seedboro grain sampler probe, used for checking the contents of large loads of grain for quality and health. The probe is inserted into a load of grain, then the handle is turned, allowing grain to fall into the openings so that when withdrawn, and opened, it displays at different depths so that it can be inspected for various things such as quality, dryness, inclusions, etc. Seedboro Company is still in operation making very similar instruments to this day, and their current equivalent sells for $798.00. It is all brass, with two tubes, the inner one turning inside the outer. One end is pointed, and the other end has an opening to allow an additional handle to provide greater power for turning.
Size: 40 1/2 inches long, 2 1/8 inches across.
Condition
The brass is dulled, but it is in excellent condition, working perfectly.
