The mandau is the traditional headhunting weapon of the Dayak people of Borneo. For headhunting, people would gather to attack other tribes and collect heads to be used in various festivities. The mandau is also known as parang ilang among the Bidayuh, Iban and Penan peoples.

This example comes with a long whittling knife, generally referred to as pisau raut, attached to the scabbard. The carved wood handle retains its decorative hair plumes.

Dimensions: 27.5" long overall x 20" blade.
