Superb black with deep red tones silk fan embroidered with silver sequins in different sizes and shapes forming ornate patterns on the silk. The case for the frame is carved ebony, much of which is inlaid in silver that suggests the patterns on the fan itself. The fan is in a rectangular shadow-box frame that appears quite old. The central part of the frame appears to be old black lacquer, while the outside is covered with walnut veneer, with a gilt edge bordering the oval glass.. Size: The fan is 8 1/2 inches tall and 14 inches wide as opened. The frame is15 inches high, 18 inches wide, and 3 inches deep. The fan is excellent. The frame shows its age.
