A very fine and rare form German beer stein, named to Georg Seider of the 11th Company of the 21st Bavarian Infantry Regiment who served from 1904 to 1906. The stein is beautifully painted with scenes from a soldier's service including bivouac, shaking a comrade's hand, guard duty, waving at a train, running into a field in battle order. The lid of the stein has a diamond shaped piece of glass on its top with a scene of soldiers drinking under it. The top of the handle has a fine crowned lion with the Bavarian coat of arms on it. The bottom of the stein has a lithopane translucent panel with a portrait of Leopold, Prince Regent of Bavaria. The underside of the stein has "91D" over "Falt" on it. With his service so recent, Georg Seider would certainly have been called up for WWI. Size:9 1/2 inches high, and 5 1/4 inches wide at the handle.

Condition

There is a small repaired chip in the base right at the soldier's name, otherwise it is excellent.
