Antique Tibetan Buddhist kangling, leg flute. They are made out of a human tibia or femur, which can be taken from a respected teacher, a criminal, or someone who died violently. In tantric chöd practice, the practitioner, motivated by compassion, plays the kangling as a gesture of fearlessness, to summon hungry spirits and demons so that they may satisfy their hunger and relieve their sufferings. This one is fairly simply ornamented with simple brass fittings and all painted.
Dimensions: 11" long, 3" wide.
