A Jacobi re-proof is a specialized, antique photomechanical reproduction. While the use of the term “re-proof” suggests a reuse of original plates, developer Emil Jacobi once explained, "these prints are a facsimile of a signed proof Color etching. Color etchings are produced by rubbing the color into the plate, a process that is tedious and requiring great skill.... This Re-Proof retains in a marked degree the subtle technic of the original and bears a facsimile of the artist’s signature.”

Condition
Overall good antique condition. Expected browning to the paper due to age. There is visible handling wear around the margins, including old liquid stains in the bottom left corner. There is a 1/2-inch tear in the center, lower margin too, however it does not affect the image. Even toning across. No further wear or restoration visible under blacklight. Please see photos.
