A bronze sculpture of Frederic Remington's "The Rattlesnake" on a green marble plinth. It depicts a horse bucking from a rattlesnake while the rider grips onto the horses' mane and holds down his hat. Along the back edge appears to be a '58, inferring that it was developed from a posthumous cast of the original.
The original was made in 1905, standing around 20-inches tall and eleven models were casted by Roman Bronze Works. Then in 1908, Remington grew dissatisfied with the original design and reworked the plaster model to increase the moment's tension. About 100 authorized casts were made of the revised version before 1921, but further unauthorized, posthumous casts were later made, also by RBW.
Dimensions: about 9.5-inches tall overall. The base measures 8 x 6 inches, the sculpture is approx. 8-inches tall on its own
