African trumbash or trombash ceremonial sickle knife of the Mangbetu people who live in the northeast portion of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The weapon served as a ceremonial object denoting power and status. The holes in the blade allowed it to hold buttons made of copper that further advertised their bearer’s martial prowess or military rank. These could be used as a throwing weapon but were more often used as currency.

Dimensions: 15.25" long overall, 7.5" from top of blade to top of handle, 8.75" wide.
