A.D.M. Cooper (1856-1924) Oil On Canvas Painting, Nymph at Water’s Edge. A striking full-length portrayal of a mythological or allegorical nude, this large-scale oil painting exemplifies A.D.M. Cooper’s dramatic, academic style during his mature California period. The central figure—a classical nymph or goddess—stands poised at the edge of a forest pool, illuminated by a soft, warm light that heightens the naturalism of her flesh and the flowing movement of her auburn hair. She raises her arms in a graceful, balletic gesture, lending the composition a sense of rituality and quiet power.Surrounding her is a richly rendered woodland setting, with dense foliage, moss-covered rocks, and cascading water painted in deep greens and earth tones. Cooper’s command of atmosphere is evident in the subtle transitions of shadow and light, creating the sense of a secluded, enchanted grotto. The artist’s characteristic attention to texture and tonal contrast further enhances the figure’s sculptural presence against the shaded background. An impressive, 7 1/2 ft tall painting.Dimensions: 89” x 51.5” framed. 84” x 46” canvasThis piece is too large for us to ship and can only be picked up at our warehouse in Sacramento, CA.
