Early wooden cranberry harvesting scoop, very well-crafted, with curved wooden rake, wooden handles, and sheet steel fittings. It is marked J.J. Beaton and number 222 on each side. It has a wooden base added so that it can be used as a magazine rack. Cranberry bogs were flooded at harvesting time so that the berries floated to the surface, and would be harvested using this and similar rakes. J.J. Beaton & Co. is a Plymouth, Mass. small company and farm manufacturing tools for harvesting and farming cranberries. It has been in operation since the 1800s.
