19th century Filipino Moro Padsumbalin panabas. This type of panabas has a double edged blade, similar in shape to a scimitar. This example has a bamboo handle Held together with metal rings interspersed with wicker wrap. These are most closely associated with the Maranao and Maguindanao Moros of Mindanao Island, Philippines. The panabas was most infamously used for executions and as a formidable battlefield weapon, however, they started life as a foliage clearing tool that could serve the role of an axe or a sickle.
