A 19th-century German Baunscheidt Lebenswecker (Life Awakener) medical device, made from ebony wood with a spring-loaded mechanism inside the shaft. The device was intended to be unscrewed to reveal a head holding approximately 30 fine needles, which would then puncture the skin to release an irritating oil. The original box is included

Overall good antique condition. The tool itself is in great condition. However the box reflects more wear and damage. Please see photos.
