A denazified World War II Iron Cross 2nd Class with blackened iron core and silvered frame. The obverse features a raised oak leaf cluster at center above the date “1939.†Instead of the swastika normally found. The reverse shows the earlier institution date “1813†at the lower arm, commemorating the decoration’s creation during the Napoleonic Wars. The cross is suspended from its original black, white, and red striped ribbon by a gilt-toned ring. Construction is the typical three-piece with magnetic iron core and beaded silver frame. No visible maker’s mark.
Dimensions: Cross 1.75 x 1.75 in., total height with ribbon 4.25 in.
