A World War I Iron Cross 2nd Class, three-piece construction with magnetic blackened iron core and silver frame. The obverse bears the imperial crown above “W†and the date “1914,†while the reverse shows crowned “FW,†oak leaves, and the date “1813.†Suspended from the black-and-white war ribbon, one example with an applied enameled veterans’ decoration bar featuring national crests. The Iron Cross 2nd Class was awarded for acts of bravery in the field or military merit in combat.
