A 1910 San Francisco Driving Club silver plated presentation trophy cup. The inscription reads, "Presented by B.J. Flood / to / San Francisco Driving Club / Won by Alfred D. - Time 2:12-1/2 / Park Stadium / Oct. 9th, 1910." There is a medallion on the underside noting it to be plated.

The San Francisco Driving Club was an active amateur harness racing & trotting organization that hosted popular weekend matinees and race meetings at the Stadium (fields) in Golden Gate Park. In their records, Alfred D. is listed as a highly successful, famous harness racing pacing horse heavily featured in early 20th-century California racing circles. He was sired by Longworth (a son of the famous stallion Sidney) and out of the dam Ferndale Belle (by Judge Salisbury). Alfred D. stood an impressive 16 hands high and weighed roughly 1,150 pounds, noted for being a powerful, perfectly sound horse that could race "without boots". He was handled and trained at prominent NorCal facilities, including the Zibbell Stable in San Francisco and the Sutherland & Chadbourne racing stable in Pleasanton. His recognized official pacing record was 2:12¼ for a single mile heat, for which this trophy was awarded, though contemporary owners & trainers noted he was much faster in private trials, pacing miles close to the two-minute mark.

Dimensions: 12.5 inches tall, 6-inch bowl & base diameter, the handles make it 10.5-inches wide
