1868-1872 American Walnut and Marble Top Parlor Table with California Association. The super specific date range of 1868-1872 is known because Sumner Kingman and Robert Murphy ran their furniture business at 93 Bleeker St in New York for only four years before Kingman left the business in 1872.
Kingman and Murphy, who sold furniture in California and had a relationship with California furniture vendor Goodwin & Co., created furniture in a knocked down state in New York, which was then assembled by vendors such and Goodwin & Co. upon arrival in California.
A similar example is housed in the collection of the Newark Museum of Art in New Jersey.
Dimensions: 37.5" x 28.5" table top width. 29.5" table height from bottom of wheels top top of marble slab.
