Widely considered one of the most desirable and decorative maps of Oxford, and one of the most desirable ever made for a British colony. The physical geography of this map is influenced by a similar John Speed map. On the maps borders are sixteen coats of arms of the Oxford University's colleges. The upper cartouche is striking with both a lion and unicorn drawing an observers eye. Because this is an atlas made, the pages are double-sided: verso on this map is a very early hand-colored image of Stonehenge.
Dimensions: 24" x 20" sheet. 20" x 15" image
